This is War

By Hannah Moscovitch
Directed by Richard Rose

Winner – 2013 Toronto Theatre Critics’ Award – BEST CANADIAN PLAY

2013 Dora Mavor Moore Awards Nominee – OUTSTANDING SOUND DESIGN

It is 2008. Canadian Forces are holding Panjwaii, the most volatile region of Afghanistan, with very little support from NATO-ISAF. Captain Stephen Hughes is always looking for the next threat, knowing it can come at any time from any direction. He just didn’t expect it would come from within.

“Powerful…. A lacerating look at the psychological toll of combat… an intense 90-minute one-act, tautly directed by Richard Rose…scenes as sharp and fragmented as shrapnel, that come together to form a picture of unbearable stress… the acting is rock solid.”

Martin Morrow – The Globe & Mail

“This Is War is a vibrant addition to the Canadian theatre scene.” – Mooney On Theatre

Show length: 90 minutes, No Intermission

This Is War had its world premiered at Tarragon Theatre in February 2013 and then traveled to Prairie Theatre Exchange, Winnipeg.
